This is truly a hisoric day for Mithila as ,Parmanand Jha has been elected the first Vice President of Nepal .Parmanand Jha, a former Supreme Court judge, hails from Mauwaha village of Saptari District. Mauwaha is naer Laukha,of Madhubani District.Belonging from an illustrious family,Parmanand Jha resigned as a judge in December 2007. He had not been proposed by the Judicial Council as a permanent judge at the apex court, following a drug-related controversy.
Parmanand Jha joined politics by becoming a member of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum.And On the historic day of July 19, 2008, Parmanand Jha was elected vice-president of Nepal by the Constituent Assembly.he secured 305 votes defeating Maoist candidate Shanta Shrestha for the post of vice president.
